The Super Early Bird registration for the Midwest Education Technology Conference has been extended to Tuesday, December 15th. The pre-conference sessions on Monday are filling fast. In these full and half day workshops you can learn about Digital Projects, Give Your Lesson Plan an Extreme Makeover, or Learn more about Second Life or Twitter, among other choices.
Be sure to also check out the full list of shorter breakout sessions for Tuesday & Wednesday in the Program Grid. Breakout sessions are organized into 13 topic strands such as Web 2.o, Differentiated Instruction, Leadership & Professional Development & Library Media Center. You can also search the program by keyword, then register online.

Karen Montgomery is teaching Wiki Your Way to a Classroom Website today here at Cooperating School Districts (CSD). “Wiki” means “quick” in Hawaiian, and they truly are- a wiki is a free, Web 2.0 tool to create websites very fast. Participants are learning the benefits of using wikis and they will see several examples of how they are being used right now in K-12 education.

According to Kelly Tenkely of TheApple.com: “Being a first year teacher can be overwhelming to say the least. There is new curriculum to learn, unfamiliar school policies, classroom management challenges, and new teammates. Technology can help to ease some of these first year growing pains.”

Here’s a Web 2.0 tools and applications index for you to check out (and possibly be overwhelmed by): www.go2web20.net.
If you mouse over the application icon, a short description of the tool pops up, for example, TweetPhoto is “Photosharing Made Simple” and Mixcloud suggests you “Re-think Radio.”
