Tuesday, March 27, 2012 Full House for SMART Board Level 2

Martha Bogart is wrapping up her SMART Board Level 2 class right now! This workshop was for educators who already have a SMART Board and consider themselves users. They learned some of the advanced features of the SMART Board.  With Martha’s help, they became adept at creating recordings on the SMART Board for future playback; they found out how to use the video player that comes with their SMART Board to annotate videos, plus much more. Look for more sessions to be offered this summer!

Monday, March 19, 2012 Classes Next Week Still have Openings

K-12 educators, we still have spots open in two tele classes scheduled for next week: Creating ActivBoard Lessons to Engage and Motivate Students (Level 2) and Google Tools for Educators. The Promethean class is 8:30-3:30 on March 28th; the Google class is 4:00-7:00 on March 28 and 29th. Classes are $149 CSD member; $189 non-member. The tele is equipped with dual platform computers that use both Windows and Macintosh operating systems. With any class, you will have the option of working either in a PC or Mac environment. Our instructors are skilled, knowledgeable and approachable! Our focus is on student outcomes and developing 21st century skills. These small-sized classes provide you with: hands-on activities, skill building time, plus time to create usable lesson plans with newly acquired technology skills. Monday, March 12, 2012 Free Google Tools for Education Webinar Offered Wednesday

Don’t forget that on March 14th at 4 PM CDT we are offering a free Webinar Wednesday session: Google Tools for Education. Save time and become more efficient! During this 60-minute WebEx event, learn about Google’s Hidden Treasures from Google Certified Teachers. Participants will be empowered by their new knowledge about Google Apps. Participate live from your computer- you just need an Internet connection and speakers on the computer to hear the presenters. Have questions during the professional development? Feel free to type a question in the chat window, and the presenters will respond to not only you, but the whole group. If you miss out on Wednesday, you can also view the archived session starting the following day. Registration is required.

In this all day SSA workshop, you will learn how to create slide presentations, documents, spreadsheets, forms & surveys, as well as drawings all online for free! And the best part is, you can share with coworkers & friends, allowing them access to help edit and refine. No more emailing back and forth, trying to keep track of which version is the latest. Moving online & providing 24/7 access means you will be paperless – and green!

Be sure to bring your laptop & learn even more about other Google Tools available to make your job easier! Please set up a free Google Account prior to attending the SSA session & bring your username and password on March 16th. The annual Support Staff Academy is a Virtual Learning Center program designed to provide professional development to area schools’ educational support professionals (i.e., administrative assistants, secretaries/office personnel, maintenance/custodial, food service, security, teachers’ and library aides). The topics vary each year based upon the Advisory Committee recommendations. At the end of each year is the Support Staff Mini-Conference (June 6 this year). The VLC and SSA are programs of Cooperating School Districts of Greater St. Louis.

Thursday, February 16, 2012 METC 2012 Virtual Sessions are Available Now!

Learn with us through the convenience of your own device (computer, tablet, pad, etc.)! The Midwest Education Technology Conference is offering a great way to participate in and enjoy METC 2012, even if you couldn’t be there in person on February 14 and February 15 at the St. Charles Convention Center. You may view the archived session recordings and learn at your own pace! The presentations selected for the free virtual conference include those from keynote & featured speakers (like Adam Bellow, Cindy Lane, David Thornburg and Tony Vincent). Streaming services provided by Conference Technologies, Inc. and the METC  Moodle is provided by SqoolTechs, LLC. Thanks again to our wonderful presenters for participating the virtual conference.
