It has been a busy Friday morning here in the Virtual Learning Center! Carolyn Lesser had a videoconference (which got rave reviews from the school!), Stacey taught a beginning SMART Board class in the tele, and Martha and Ruth connected to videoconference with other Missouri technology educators. (And I was running around, checking the vc connections [plus another one, off site] and taking photos!)

This summer, we will have several SMART Board classes at Cooperating School Districts in St. Louis, MO! The first set are at the beginning of the schedule:
Wednesday, June 3: Beginning SMART Board
Thursday, June 4: Intermediate SMART Board
Beginning SMART Board: Transforming Learning
The SMART Board is an interactive whiteboard that improves the way you teach, train and present. Come learn how to use this technology tool in your classroom- no prior knowledge of SMART Boards required! The SMART Board combines the look and feel of a whiteboard with the power and applications of a computer so you can save and print notes, collaborate on electronic documents, share information and run multimedia materials. When combined with an LCD panel or projector, the SMART Board becomes a large, touch-sensitive screen that you and your students can utilize. Discover how to develop lesson plans that make use of this fabulous tool and motivate 21st century students to learn.
Intermediate SMART Board:
Creating Lessons to Engage and Motivate Students
Do you already have a SMART Board and consider yourself a user? This intermediate class is for you! Come learn the advanced features of the SMART Board and create lessons. Become adept at creating recordings of what you do on the SMART Board for future playback! Find out how to use the video player that comes with your SMART Board to annotate videos. Learn how to attach audio files to objects on the SMART Board, and how to save items that you use often and want to share to the My Content folder. We’ll show you how to find hundreds of lessons that have already been created for use on the SMART Board. You’ll be able to create your own usable lesson, either from scratch or by tweaking a downloaded lesson. In addition, we will introduce participants to Senteo, the SMART Board “clicker system” and discuss the Airliner, a device that allows you to manipulate objects on the SMART Board from any location in the room.
