  To quote Ruth’s granddaughter, “this is  serious business!”  I guess I do document a  lot of what goes on in the tele. Stephanie &  Stacey decided not to ignore the camera  today! Aside from posing for the camera,  they team taught second half of Free Online Resources for a group of teachers. What did they talk about? Accessing educational sources like web page creators, lesson plans, rubric makers, quizzes, Internet bookmark storage, and worksheet makers- for free- online.  

 During the day, the teachers clicked around  ikeepbookmarks.com and  took a tour of  Moodle, seeing how the Virtual  Learning  Center has utilized this open source software  course management system. Of course, there  was plenty of time to ask questions and  explore all the free options!

Creating Technology-Rich Lessons to Increase Student Achievement 
 July 7, 8, & 10 | $259 CSD member; $389 non-member | 1460 Craig Rd. 

 This three-day professional development session is for teachers  familiar with “surfing the Net” but who are unsure about how  exactly to use it in school along with other available technologies.  The focus of the tele workshop is to help you create a lesson plan  from lesson objectives & assignments to teacher & student  support materials, all the way to a scoring guide for technology projects. Sound interesting? In this class, you’ll also:

  • Discover Internet search strategies & find lesson plans on the Web
  • Find scoring guide templates for technology projects & create your own rubric online
  • Store websites in a free location on the web
  • Create “tracks” of approved websites for students
  • Create quizzes online & student worksheets online 
  • Produce assignments that require students to use word-processing, PowerPoint & web pages
  • Learn the “grammar” of the web
  • Hear what other St. Louis area teachers are doing in their classrooms and share your experiences
