Thursday, June 10, 2010 ‘Discover’ Digital Media in the Virtual Learning Center
Discovery Education streaming digital media can be used in the classroom in a variety of ways… engage today’s learner by using images, videos, and audio files in your lessons. By coming to Creating Multimedia Projects with Discovery Education streaming on June 22, you’ll learn how to integrate DE streaming digital media into a variety of applications such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, even SMART Notebook or a Promethean Flipchart. Digital video and audio files can also be used in these applications as well as in a Movie Maker or iMovie presentation. Discovery STAR teacher Stephanie Madlinger leads this workshop.

Differentiating Instruction with Discovery streaming
Friday, June 5. 2009 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
$138 CSD member; $214 non-member
Discovery streaming is not just videos- come learn how to use this resource more effectively in your teaching. Discover ways to develop curriculum based Writing Prompts, Quizzes and Assignments through the use of the Teacher Center. Learn new ways to save time and make your teaching easier by creating common assessments and sharing them with your school and your district through the use of My Content. Engage today’s learner by using images and videos in your PowerPoint presentations. During the afternoon portion of the workshop, learn how to apply Discovery streaming in:
- Google Earth
- Google SketchUp (create, modify & share 3D models)
- Photostory 3
- SMART Notebook
Bring a lesson idea, its objectives or GLE’s, and be ready to develop easy to use resources for more differentiated instruction. One graduate credit is available for an additional cost if you are interested.
Some schools and school districts in the St. Louis metropolitan area are members of the CSD’s Computer Services Group. If your district is a Computer Services Group member, check with your supervisor or the appropriate office to use CSG credits for payment of workshops or at the least to qualify for member workshop fee.

Did you know that DE streaming digital media resources could be used with your interactive whiteboard (IWB)? You can engage today’s learner by using images, videos, and audio files with IWB lessons. Come learn how to integrate DE streaming digital media into a variety of applications such as a SMART Notebook or a Promethean Flipchart in our new class, Creating IWB Lessons using Discovery Education streaming. You’ll also learn how to develop lessons with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel to be used with any IWB. Participants will work together to develop lessons to use in the classroom today. You’ll have the opportunity to enhance your ability to use both Discovery Education streaming and IWB products in your classroom by creating content that you can share with other educators. You’ll learn tips and tricks for using both SMART & Promethean software’s interactive design and delivery tools.
GOOGLE TOOLS IN EDUCATION - bring your own laptop –
Today was the final day of our week of MS Office classes. Ellinder had a full class of K-12 educators interested in learning more about PowerPoint and implementing it into their classrooms. This afternoon, they’ll learn how to design student PowerPoint assignments that require higher order thinking skills and then examine assessment methods that will help them grade these student assignments!
