Thursday, July 14, 2011 2011 Missouri Distance Learning K-12 Educator Award Goes to….
Congratulations to Stephanie Madlinger, program coordinator in CSD’s Virtual Learning Center, for receiving one of the the Missouri Distance Learning Association’s Excellence Awards for 2011.
Stephanie was nominated and won the K-12 Educator Award from MoDLA. The Missouri Distance Learning Association is a non-profit association formed to promote the development and application of distance learning to education and training.
The award is given to instructors who use educational technology effectively and provide challenging, engaging and innovative educational opportunities via distance learning. Stephanie will be honored at the annual MoDLA conference next week in Springfield, where she will also present Saving Schools $$$ by Using Online Resources.

The Missouri Distance Learning Association (MoDLA) will hold its 14th annual conference in Springfield, Missouri, on July 21 and 22nd. The theme this year is Mobile, Open, Connective: Distance Learning Refined.
The MoDLA conference attracts attendees interested in all aspects distance learning from K-12 schools, higher education institutions, non-profit organizations, state government agencies, the military and private industry. You can follow MoDLA on Twitter @modistancelearn.

The Future Is Now: Taking the Next Step in 21st-Century Learning was the 2010 Missouri Distance Learning Association (MoDLA) Conference theme. Megan Moncure attended the conference last week in Springfield, Missouri. They offered more than 40 breakout sessions, roundtable meetings, and special interest group session with a tremendous range of information and resources for their distance learning partners. According to Megan, program highlights included Taking the High School Classroom Online (starting a duel credit program at Drury University), a session on a study (Missouri State University) about traditional seated courses versus blended courses, and a trivia night that included a performance from the Skinny Improv comedy troupe.

“The Missouri Distance Learning Association is a non-profit association formed to promote the development and application of distance learning to education and training.
The MoDLA Mission:
To be the premiere statewide organization in Missouri for promotion of the effective application of distance learning strategies to maximize access, equity, and quality of educational resources for teachers and learners of all ages.
MoDLA Goals:
The goals of the MoDLA will be consistent with the goals of the USDLA, which include:
- Advocate: to advocate and promote the use of distance learning.
- Information: to provide current information on distance learning.
- Policy: to represent the distance learning community before government policy and regulatory bodies.
- Association of Associations: to serve and support the state, consortium and individual organizations that belong to USDLA.
- Recognition: to provide annual recognition and awards of outstanding achievements in distance learning.
- Partnerships: to serve as a catalyst for the formation of Partnerships among education, business, health care and government.
- Access and Equity: to promote equity and access to life long learning through distance learning.”

The 2009 Missouri Distance Learning Association (MoDLA) conference will be held on July 9-10, 2009 at the Tan-Tar-A Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri. Mark your calendars and visit www.modla.org for the conference updates.
According to its website, the “mission of the Missouri Distance Learning Association is to promote the effective application of distance learning strategies to maximize access, equity, and quality of educational resources for teachers and learners of all ages in the state.”
The 2009 conference theme is “Getting Ready for the Next Decade.” Topics Include (but not limited to):
