Friday, October 26, 2012 Creating Interactive Whiteboard Lessons to Meet Common Core Standards in the Secondary Classroom
We have two upcoming Saturday workshops on using interactive whiteboards- like Promethan ActivBoards and SMARTBoards- and meeting Common Core State Standards. Each workshop is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and each costs $50 for CSD member or $70 for non-members. Register online; both workshops are November 10.

This professional development is not for IWB beginners; we’re asking participants to bring existing materials and lessons that you want to revise.
Creating Interactive Whiteboard Lessons to Meet ELA Common Core Standards in the Secondary Classroom This half-day workshop on November 10th is designed for secondary teachers who want to learn how to meet the English Language Arts Common Core State Standards (CCSS) by using their interactive whiteboard (SMART or Promethean). Find out what the CCSS are and how you can create IWB lessons that align to them. The focus will be on leveraging your existing IWB lessons and resources to transform them to meet the rigor and relevance requirements of the CCSS.

Wednesday, June 27, 2012 Level 2 and 3 ActivBoard Training is Here!
The Virtual Learning Center of Cooperating School Districts has two more workshops this summer on your Promethean ActivBoard. Take both, or just select the single session that best suits your needs! Each session runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is $110 for a CSD member and $149 for a non-member. For Level 2 and 3, one graduate credit is available for each workshop (at an additional cost). Creating ActivBoard Lessons to Engage and Motivate Students (Level 2) Learn the advanced features of the ActivInspire and create flipcharts; develop lesson activities that organize lesson resources, make use of sound and images to motivate students and create a story or problem where your students demonstrate knowledge or creativity in a fun way. You’ll be able to create your own usable flipchart, either from scratch or by tweaking a downloaded lesson. PREREQUISITE: Level 1 training or equivalent; not a workshop for beginners. This workshop is Monday, July 2.
Best Practices in ActivBoard Flipchart Lessons (Level 3) Available for teachers with intermediate or advanced skills in ActivInspire software, this workshop will teach you how to create interactive lesson activities based on curriculum standards & best practices scoring guides. You’ll also collaborate with others to design & build lessons. Lessons created during class will then shared with other teachers through Promethean Planet. PREREQUISITE: Level 2 training or equivalent; not a workshop for beginners; You will be sent a survey of their skills before enrolling. This workshop is Monday, July 9.

Monday, April 4, 2011 Next Week, Create IWB Lessons using Discovery Education streaming

Did you know that DE streaming digital media resources could be used with your interactive white boards (IWB)? Engage today’s learner by using images, videos, and audio files with your IWB lessons. Come learn in the Creating IWB Lessons using Discovery Education streaming workshop how to integrate DE streaming digital media into a variety of applications such as a SMART Notebook or a Promethean Flipchart. Also learn how to develop lessons with PowerPoint, Word, and Excel to be used with any interactive whiteboard. Participants will work together to develop lessons to use in the classroom. You’ll have the opportunity to enhance your ability to use both Discovery Education streaming and IWB products in your classroom by creating content that you can share with other educators. You’ll learn tips and tricks for using both SMART & Promethean software’s interactive design and delivery tools. This workshop is for dynamic educators who are enthusiastic about designing lesson activities to increase student engagement and participation. A Discovery STAR Educator will be on hand throughout the class to guide and assist you in your lesson creation. This class takes place all day April 11 at Cooperating School Districts. This is a class for beginners with no prior knowledge of SMART Boards. Discover how to find and develop lesson plans that make use of this hands-on tool and motivate 21st century students.

What’s all the buzz about “clicker” systems in the classroom? SMART Response is an interactive response system combining handheld wireless remotes (or clickers), a receiver and powerful assessment software that allows you to create tests and manage, track, and evaluate the results. This system integrates seamlessly with the SMART Board, but must be purchased separately. Come learn how to set up formative and summative assessments for your students and obtain immediate results that can be used to guide instruction. Learn the basics of the h and software, how to set up a grade book, and practice creating assessments.

Do you already have a SMART Board and consider yourself a user? This intermediate class is for you! Come learn some of the advanced features of the SMART Board and create lessons. Become adept at creating recordings of what you do on the SMART Board for future playback! Find
out how to use the video player that comes with your SMART Board to annotate videos. Learn how to attach audio files to objects on the SMART Board, and how to save items that you use often and want to share to the My Content folder. We’ll show you how to find hundreds of lessons that have already been created for use on the SMART Board. You’ll be able to create your own usable lesson, either from scratch or by tweaking a downloaded lesson.
