Friday, March 18, 2011 Students Rebuild Offers Project To Support Japan
One week ago, on “Friday, March 11, 2011, a massive earthquake struck Sendai, Japan, resulting in a devastating tsunami that ravaged the coast just 180 miles from Tokyo. In response, Students Rebuild [who works with Global Nomads Group] partnered with DoSomething.org, to ensure students worldwide have a way to support their Japanese peers.
Help Japan by making paper cranes. These simple yet powerful gestures will trigger a $200,000 donation from the Bezos Family Foundation – $2 for each crane received – to Architecture for Humanity’s reconstruction efforts in Japan. Once we reach our goal of 100,000 submissions, the cranes will be woven into an art installation – a symbolic gift from students around the globe to Japanese youth.”
How it works:
• Make a paper crane (watch a how-to video)
• Snap a photo and upload it, along with a message of support to the Facebook page “Paper Cranes for Japan”
• Turn your crane into dollars for reconstruction – and eventually an art installation – by mailing it to Students Rebuild. Or, team up with friends and fold as many as you can! Email Students Rebuild to receive a pre-paid shipping label for large boxes:

Tuesday, December 14, 2010 Where Were You on January 28, 1986?

Challenger Crew
For many, the Challenger shuttle disaster 25 years ago is a vivid memory. For others, including children in elementary, middle school and high school, it is only a historical event. In either case, the Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis is offering ways to honor the lost 1986 Challenger crew-
Tell Us Your Story. . .
Where Were You on January 28, 1986 when we lost the Challenger shuttle?
Send the Challenger Learning Center-St. Louis a Where Were You? video. Share your personal story or interview someone who remembers the event, in a short video. Submissions must be no longer that 1 minute in length, and select videos will be shared on Challenger Learning Center’s Facebook and Flickr page.

Monday, July 12, 2010 GNG Partners to help Students Rebuild Haiti
From Global Nomads Group:
As the spotlight on post-quake Haiti dwindles, Architecture for Humanity, the Bezos Family Foundation and Global Nomads Group recognize there is still much work to be done to rebuild Haiti. Students Rebuild remains committed to Haiti’s reconstruction efforts with a $500,000 challenge grant to rebuild stronger, safer, permanent schools in Haiti!
We warmly invite you to join us in this significant endeavor during the upcoming school year – one that will allow your students to interact with their Haitian peers, empower them to become young, global philanthropists and follow the progress of their fundraising efforts. So far, we have raised $106,223 in less than 6 months!
In the 2010-2011 school year, we will roll out a comprehensive Students Rebuild Haiti program that will include:
• national standards-based, four-module curriculum covering Haiti’s socio-cultural and geopolitical background, school reconstruction and the education system, international relations and student philanthropy
• live videoconference series from Haiti with Global Nomads Group throughout the school year (including an educator introduction session and a student wrap-up session)
• webcasts that will feature Architecture for Humanity staff and other NGO members working on the ground for a live progress report
• calls to action, collaborative projects and activities that your team can engage in throughout the school year.
Visit our “Field Notes” blog and our Facebook & Twitter pages for the latest news from Haiti.
VIDEOCONFERENCE PROGRAM REGISTRATION OPENS ON AUGUST 23. For more information, please visit http://www.studentsrebuild.org. To learn more about Global Nomads Group, visit their website.
