screen shotDiscovery streaming is not just videos- come learn how to use this resource more effectively in your teaching. Discover ways to develop curriculum based Writing Prompts, Quizzes and Assignments through the use of the Teacher Center. Learn new ways to save time and make your teaching easier by creating common assessments and sharing them with your school and your district through the use of My Content. Engage today’s learner by using images and videos in your PowerPoint presentations. During the afternoon portion of the workshop, learn how to apply Discovery streaming in:

Bring a lesson idea, its objectives or GLE’s, and be ready to develop easy to use resources for more differentiated instruction. One graduate credit is available for an additional cost if you are interested.

Some schools and school districts in the St. Louis metropolitan area are members of the CSD’s Computer Services Group. If your district is a Computer Services Group member, check with your supervisor or the appropriate office to use CSG credits for payment of workshops or at the least to qualify for member workshop fee.

Today is the last Discovery streaming Monday training of the school year! In addition to all the goodies Discovery streaming offers, Stacey showed class participants the Discovery Atlas.

If you still want to take a Discovery streaming class before next school year, we’re offering one this summer on June 5: Differentiating Instruction with Discovery streaming. To sign up for the class next month, or to read the full description, visit: www.csd.org/tele. The June 5 class (which runs 8:30 to 3:30) costs $138 CSD member and $214 non-member. For an additional fee, one graduate credit is available.

Friday, May 8, 2009 Last ’08-09 monthly Discovery streaming training is next week

The final monthly Discovery streaming training is on Monday, May 11. St. Louis area educators, if you are interested, now is the time to sign up!

Receive on-demand streaming and downloading of videos for your classroom, and lesson plan, quizzes, images, sound effects, encyclopedia articles, and more!  Using Discovery streaming, student are engaged in their learning experiences, and teachers have the ability to use or create standards-based lesson plans, assignments, quizzes and writing prompts online.  Right now, CSD offers free training the second Monday of the month during the school year from 9 am-3 pm at the Craig Rd. location for CSD members. discoveryeducation Upcoming Discovery streaming classes in Cooperating School Districts‘ tele include the monthly free class (for Cooperating School District members) and the summer class that is scheduled for Friday, June 5. The May class takes place Monday the 11th.

With Discovery streaming, teachers receive on-demand streaming and downloading of videos for  classrooms, plus lesson plan, quizzes, images, sound effects, encyclopedia articles, and more! discovery-dayJoin Discovery Education for a technology infused Day of Discovery next month at Cooperating School Districts! Learn all about the resources available to you, the classroom teacher, from Discovery Education streaming. Virtual Learning Center staff will also be on hand!

Registration is now open for the free Day of Discovery on Saturday, April 18 from 8:30-4:00. Registration is limited to 60 people. For specific questions regarding this event, please contact Discovery’s Mike Bryant at michael_bryant@discovery.com.

Yesterday I met with a wonderful group of teachers from Flynn Park Elementary School in the University City School District.  I showed them all of the great features of the Discovery streaming website and how to use such fuctions at the Advanced Search, Writing Prompt Builder, and the Discovery Atlas.  These teachers are motivated, excited and engaged learners.  I know that I would love to be a child in their classrooms!
