Another new class from the Virtual Learning Center – Communicate & Learn Online! Are you overwhelmed? Do you feel isolated in your role as an educator? Having a PLN (Personal Learning Network) allows you and your students to learn and share with others around the world, 24/7.
A PLN is a reciprocal network that you create based on your interests and needs. By developing your own PLN, you generate multiple opportunities to learn from, connect with, gather information and resources, then create and share with people like you. Instructor Stephanie Madlinger will explain how to use an online community to develop your PLN, and where to look! You will explore online learning communities like Google Docs and Moodle, and social networks, including Facebook and Twitter.
With the new Senate Bill 54 in Missouri, these resources have a different role with our students. We will discuss the movement from an AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) to a RUP (Responsible Use Policy) for students and teachers. Discover online communities, social networks, collaborative applications and social bookmarking sites to connect & learn online. This new workshop takes place October 28th, from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm at CSD’s tele. Costs are $149 for a CSD member; $189 for non-members. Register here.
