A sold out crowd of educators from around St. Louis and beyond came together to learn and share. There were teachers learning with leaders in three hour workshops the first two days. Then, during the UnConference on Day 3, the collaboration and planning continued in smaller 90 minute breakouts by schools, interest and job-alike groupings. Overall, the comments and feedback have been positive and many plan to tell friends and colleagues to attend in July!

As we shared, St. Louis educators Don Goble (Ladue School District) and Julie Smith (SIUE and Webster University) will keynote this event. They will be followed by two different session times with various resources, programs, and ideas shared from area experts in the field media literacy, like:

• Bill Bass, Parkway School District
• Linda Dougherty, Northwest School District
• Mitch Eden, Kirkwood School District

Plus a panel discussion featuring:

• Jasmine Huda, KMOV
• Alvin Reid, Nine Network, 101 ESPN

Character education sets our students up for being responsible citizens and taking responsibility for their own actions. It helps to better prepare them for a successful future.

Character education is a huge part of our school. Teaching students about character traits prepares them for life beyond school. We are helping our students become respectful, responsible and caring students. Being in special education, character education lessons and activities are a great opportunity for all students to be included in the classroom regardless of their academic abilities.

Character Education is a great way to teach students how to treat each other with kindess and compassion and to be empathetic to others. It shows students that we care about more than just teaching the subject. We care about them!
