Depression & Suicide in Youth: Symptoms & Interventions
This videoconference is presented by  Brenda A. Brown, MSN, RN, CPNP, a Clinical Nurse Specialist with BJC Behavioral Health. T
he 10/23 videoconference at 4 p.m. CT includes:

Discuss pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions used to manage mood disorders

Describe risk factors and protective factors for suicide
- Identify suicide prevention resources

Discuss warning signs and intervention strategies
Ex: Classroom Behaviors
- Loss of interest in previously liked activities, friends

Appears tired or sleepy in class

Irritable or easily agitated

Difficulty thinking through concepts, making decisions, competing projects

Aggressive, risk taking behaviors

Attracted to themes of death in reading, music, drawing
