St. Louis County Library  has a partnership with Cooperating School Districts - and one product of this partnership is our EBSCOHost videoconference. During the videoconference, students use MasterFILE Elite to find full-text articles from over 1,000 popular magazines including Time, Discover and American History. Students learn how to search MasterFILE Elite’s database using keyword searching and how to print and email their articles.  Paul Steensland, St. Louis County Library Coordinator of Electronic Database Training, (how does that fit on a business card!) interacts with students in hour long programs. Last year, a high school freshman leaving one of Paul’s sessions commented that he had to go out a get a library card!

Lafayette High is participating in videoconferences this week, and freshmen are learning how to research for papers using MasterFILE. If you are a St. Louis area teacher and want to connect your students to the St. Louis County Library Coordinator of Electronic Database Training over videoconference, let me know!! Paul talks to the teachers beforehand so he is able to cover what the students specifically need- and want.

Also with our partnership with the library, we are able to bring authors in to CSD to videoconference- last year we had Charles Flood, this fall Edward P. Jones will talk to students. We hope for many more opportunities!
