New Links to New Learning members, I just want to wish you a wonderful summer break! This year was a great success in videoconferencing. I’m happy so many of you who had not participated in a lot of videoconferences in past years have started integrating them into your curriculum.

We’ve had two schools who have invited parents to watch as their children interact with experts across the world. Here is an excerpt of an e-mail from a parent to her daughter’s teacher, regarding a recent visit with a paleontologist videoconference from an Ohio museum ~ “It was so impressive to see the kids give presentations of their dinosaur. [My daughter]was so excited. She holds her “dinosaur book” up to now. Obviously that is one of her favorite workbooks. You must be very proud of your kids. I can see how much effort you put on them through their wonderful work. I would like to ask you the name of the museum that you video linked to. We will drive to Cincinnati in the end of June. We would like to visit that museum if possible.”

Good work teachers! Can’t wait to start getting your requests for the 2007-2008 school year!
